About

I have been mulling over the phrase ‘scrapbook of fragments’ to help me grow as a writer.  The idea of a scrapbook is helpful to me because it is for things which are partial, found, diverse, possibly temporary, and informal – it just contains what the scrapbook-maker finds interesting themselves.  There is no ‘right answer’ for scrapbooks.  The idea of fragments is liberating because it suggests delicacy, maybe rough edges, but also indicate some kind of unity, even if invisible.  I have called the blog ‘extraplorer’ because this is one of my favourite words from an old children’s TV programme called the flumps.  I love the idea of being an explorer but I even more like the thought of being an extraplorer.
